National Geographic Committee for Research and Exploration

On the 6th September, we were privileged to have the National Geographic CRE team join us for a whale eco-safari. The wildlife did not disappoint with Southern rights, plus a lucky sighting of two Humpback whales as well as our usual seals and birdlife. Check out the blog post here.
Our excursion was part of their visit to South Africa and for those who braved the early morning said it was a highlight of their trip.
Our time with this interesting group was far too short but we did have the opportunity to briefly present to them how our commercial operations directly benefit the Trust. Dr Peter Best and Dr Ken Findlay from the Mammal Research Institute (University of Pretoria) presented on the history and research of the Southern right whales at a special evening hosted at Grootbos.
