Two Oceans Aquarium Sponsors the DICT

The DICT has been in partnership with the Two Oceans Aquarium for almost a decade, and through the years the relationship has grown from strength to strength.
A common shared passion is one of a love for African Penguins and other seabirds.
The DICT does majority of the seabird rescues in the Overstrand area East of Hermanus and once a bird has been rescued, stabilized, assessed and found in need of medical attention the long and arduous journey to a rehabilitation facility is undertaken.
Tourism partners Marine Dynamics and Dyer Island Cruises supports this unfunded conservation branch of the DICT by transporting these birds to the Two Oceans Aquarium in Cape Town where they are then in turn either stabilized for the night, or sent on to SANCCOB in Milnerton.
With the setup of the first seabird rehabilitation facility in the Overstrand, the African Penguin and Seabird Sanctuary, these trips will come to an end - as birds will be provided with immediate medical attention and care, as well as rehabilitation for release back into the wild.
To introduce this facility to their tourism agents and media affiliates in Cape Town the DICT held a Marketing Event at the Two Oceans Aquarium. During this event, CEO of the TOA, Mr. Pat Garret surprized DICT Founder Wilfred Chivell with a donation of R100,000 in support of the African Penguin and Seabird Sanctuary.
"Such a big vote of confidence in our conservation work by this highly revered and celebrated institution makes us feel extremely proud!" said Wilfred Chivell after he received the donation from Mr. Garrett.
We would like to thank the Two Oceans Aquarium for this wonderful generosity - your support has made this dream a reality!
