The DICT, the authors of the site content and any other companies or persons connected to this site in any way, (collectively called “Providers”), assume no responsibility for errors or omissions in these contents. The DICT does not warrant that the functions contained in the website will be uninterrupted or error free, that defects will be corrected, or that the website or the server that makes it available is free of viruses or bugs or represents full functionality, accuracy or reliability of the materials.

The DICT reserve the right to modify or withdraw, temporarily or permanently, the Website (or any part of the Website) without notice.

In an effort to provide site visitors & users with relevant information, the DICT may provide links to other websites or resources. We are not responsible for the availability of such external sites or resources, and do not endorse and are not responsible or liable, directly or indirectly, for the privacy practices or the content of such websites.

You can visit the DICT website without revealing any personal information about yourself. However, you should be aware that anonymous visitor information such as your IP address, browser type (Explorer, Chrome, etc) referring pages and pages visited on the website may be automatically collected for statistical analysis of web traffic patterns.

The DICT web pages utilise “cookies” and other technologies which serve to recall personal information previously given by a Web user. Most browsers allow you to control cookies, including whether or not to accept them and how to remove them.

  1. Disclosure Policy

If you do provide us with personal information – such as your name, address or email address – in order to make a donation, the DICT undertakes to treat all personal information you provide to us as strictly confidential. No personal information will be made available to third parties, unless obliged to do so by law or legal process. The DICT may send you email newsletters and updates from time to time. You may unsubscribe from these at any time by clicking the ‘unsubscribe’ link in the email, or by sending an email to office@dict.org.za with ‘remove’ in the subject line. 

  1. Online payments

We do not record credit card details on this site. Online payments from anywhere in the world are processed either in ZAR by PayFast, or in US$ by PayPal. For the convenience of web users wishing to donate from other countries, a currency converter is provided as a guide. The currency converter is a tool and we take no responsibility for its accuracy. If in doubt, you are advised to check current exchange rates with your bank.

8.1PayFast
The company protects the security of information during transmission by using 128 bit Secure Socket Layer (SSL) software, which encrypts information supplied by the cardholder. Encryption complies with international standards. PayFast servers are protected by firewalls and intrusion detection systems. The company registration documents, and the site’s registered domain name are checked and verified by Thawte.

8.2 PayPal
The PayPal site is highly secure and uses industry-leading technology such as 128 bit Secure Socket Layer (SSL) software, which encrypts information supplied by the cardholder. Before you even register or log in to the PayPal site, their server checks that you are using an approved browser – one that uses SSL 3.0 or higher. PayPal servers are heavily guarded physically and by electronic firewalls and are not directly connected to the internet, therefore your private information is available only to authorized computers.     This site is created, maintained and controlled in the Republic of South Africa and as such, the laws of the Republic of South Africa and the jurisdiction of the South African Court govern this user agreement and the use or inability to use this site.

  1. Who we are / Information about the website owner

11.1. Access and use of this website is provided by the Dyer Island Conservation Trust (“DICT”).

11.2. Our legal status is a Trust, governed by a trust deed. The name of the trust is the Dyer Island Conservation Trust (abbreviated as DICT).

11.3. DICT is an environmental conservation organisation and is registered as a “welfare organisation” as defined in section 1 of the Value-Added Tax Act 1991. The DICT desires to obtain funding for its conservation initiatives from supporters that share its vision of protecting the biodiversity of the Overstrand and to utilise such donations in the carrying out of its activities as a “welfare organisation”.
