The Marine Dynamics and Dyer Island Conservation Trust team had the honour of hosting our third meeting with Minister Dion George, Minister of Environment, Forestry and Fisheries, since his appointment in July 2024.
In just 10 months as minister, Minister George has demonstrated a strong interest in the work being done in our region. During his recent visit, he enjoyed the welcoming atmosphere of The Great White House Restaurant in Kleinbaai for a light lunch, assisted Senior Bird Rehabilitator Xolani Lawu with feeding time at the African Penguin and Seabird Sanctuary, and visited the Kleinbaai Harbour, the launch site of Marine Dynamics Shark and Whale Tours.
Wilfred Chivell, CEO of Marine Dynamics and Founder of the Dyer Island Conservation Trust, had the opportunity to discuss the importance of safeguarding the Greater Dyer Island ecosystem, as well as the vital role of non-consumptive marine ecotourism in supporting economic development in our coastal communities.
